How to Fit Jesus into a Busy Schedule

Being a college student often means you will have a busy schedule. Between classes, homework, work, family life, and a social life, it may seem impossible to add anything else to the list of responsibilities. However, it is possible, and it can be enjoyable

(and sometimes even necessary for a happy, healthy life). Here are some habits that have helped me to fit Jesus into my busy college schedule...

Set Morning Alarm 30 Minutes Early

Instead of dedicating the first few moments of the day to looking at Instagram or Snapchat or TikTok or whatever else, make that time spiritual. Personally, I like to read over Bible verses I have highlighted that center around positivity to start my day off with a good mindset. If you don’t have a highlighted Bible, I would suggest searching online for Bible verses that pertain to goals you want to accomplish for the day. For example, a goal could be to minimize anxiety by trusting in God. You could also, simply, spend this time talking to God.

Use Spare Time to Pray

Distractions are everywhere on a college campus, and it's easy to lose sight of Christ in all the craziness. I have found that incorporating habitual prayer in my everyday routine can improve my focus. For example, when I am walking from class to class, I use this time to bring to God any requests or prayers of thanks I may have. Replacing small amounts of time that otherwise would go to waste with prayer is such an easy way to incorporate Christ into your daily routine.

Dedicate 30 Minutes Before Bed

The conclusion to your day is a pivotal time for prayer. This is the time to acknowledge and thank God for all the blessings that you experienced throughout the day. Not only is this a good time for reflection, but it's non-intrusive of your previously set schedule. It simply requires you to end your day an ounce sooner than normal, which isn't such a bad thing, especially when it means spending time with Christ.
